Audition Information
Audition registrations are now open for the Melbourne Youth Ballet Company’s production of Cinderella. Open for Juniors through to Pre-Professionals, both male and female aged 10 - 21.
(Age as of February 16th 2025)
Dancers from across Victoria/Australia are welcome to represent their schools by auditioning in front of a MYBC team panel team for a place in the program.
Successful applicants will be notified via email.
Levels and Positions
Junior Positions (10 - 13yrs)
Junior Soloist & Corps de Ballet positions
Strong basic ballet technique required.
Intermediate Positions (14 - 16yrs)
Intermediate Soloist & Corps de Ballet positions
Strong basic ballet technique. Pointe work may be required but not compulsory
Advanced and Pre-Professional Positions (17 - 21yrs)
Senior Soloist, Principals & Corps de Ballet positions
Strong level technique.
Females - pointe work will be required.
Males - technique (tours, turns, jumps, basic partnering) will be required.
All auditionees must have a good basic technique in classical ballet.
Audition Attire
Girls - leotard, tights, ballet shoes, hair in a bun (no skirt or make-up needed)
Boys - White leotard or leotard top, black tights, black or white ballet shoes (white socks for white shoes) neat hair.

Age Group
Age as of February 16th 2025
Audition Class
The audition will be conducted as an open class tailored to each age group.
No solo performances are required.
Intermediate & Seniors: Pointe work will be included in the audition class.
Juniors: Pointe work will only be shown if required in call backs.
Call Backs
Call backs are used to assist with casting decisions.
Not receiving a call back on the day does not mean you haven't been offered a place.
Call backs take place after all audtiton classes are concluded and times will be announced on the day.
Results
All participants will receive the audition results via email during the week following the audition.
